| Forgot to post up some pics of the job I was one for most of last week. A buddy mine asked me to paint his engine bay for him since I already did mine. Apparently I did it so well on my own engine, that I should not let me skills go to waste by not doing his. Somehow, this made sense to me...at the time...and me and Luis (San Antonio) got suckered into doing it. This is what I found when I showed up...a mexican in the engine. Tisk, tisk, tisk.
Here is my first Z (AKA- engine donor car). *sigh* Pretty much a parts car at this point...just gotta take the time to finally break the last of her down. We pulled the engine out of this one to put in the one that is receiving the paint.
This is what I was working with after a cleaning. We still needed to final degrease....hit is with 800 grit...detail.....hit with 800 grit again......hit with 1000 grit....prep the surface....shoot the base....yadda...yadda.
Prep...many hours of this to do. Many hours.
Layed a heartly lare of battery tray protectant before laying paint.
Final prep...check. Masked off everything...done. Just about ready to lay the paint.
The underside of the hood needed some serious love. So we decided to lay some paint on it as well.
I put the owner (Chris Parra) to work. I got tired of him looking over my shoulder so I put him to work. He insisted on wearing the Aunt Jemima Do-rag. We were in "Blood Country" so it was okay, but we watched out backs for dem Bloods. Werd.
And here is the final product...3 coats of Aztec red. Yummy.
And "near" final conclusion of the engine bay. Just need to lay a light layer of clear and we are done. But that's all I got for now.
